Trudy has been a paramedic for nearly 20 years. She was awarded Ambulance Officer of the Year in 2022 and was also recognised as the Rotary Emergency Services Community Awards (RESCA) Emergency Officer of the Year. She was nominated anonymously for her participation in attending to a patient in cardiac arrest during the 2019 bushfires when she and other emergency services personnel were surrounded by significant fires. As this award is given for “service above self”, it also recognised her volunteer role as a peer support officer for over 15 years. In addition, Trudy was pivotal in the continued training and support of local Community First Responders for the town of Wingham.
Trudy’s experience and competency lead to her working with trainee paramedics and at Charles Sturt University Port Macquarie campus.
A mum to 3 now adult children and a single parent during most of their growth – about 3 years separates each of them – presented Trudy with some extremely challenging times!
Prior to her paramedic Career Trudy qualified as a Chef – “a profession I loved for 20 years”.
