This month we welcome as our ​speaker, Dave Pearson.  

Dave is an engineer from Coopernook with a love of surfing. In 2011 he survived a shark attack at Crowdy Bay and found the experience of connecting with people who had similar experiences, and could understand his burden, was so enlivening that he started a support group that he aptly named “Bite Club”.

The club membership has swelled to around 400 people across countries scattered all around the globe. It also now includes family members of victims of fatal attacks as well as some who have suffered attacks by dogs, alligators, and even a hippopotamus.

Dave intends informing us about his attack, what led him to start the support group and aspects of “Bite Club” life. He will give an overview of the types of counselling required after attacks and he will also speak about the Bite Club’s charity.
