Welcome back for 2023 - our 18th year!

We have an update and reminder to begin with: Please note that our cost for this year will increase to $35 per head. This will enable our venues to continue to offer us a quality meal while still catering within a limited budget.

We again reinforce the importance for netters to RSVP by the close off time, and to honour the commitment to pay even when not able to subsequently attend. This applies in the case that you cancel past the RSVP cut off time, and you are not able to find a substitute for yourself. We are obliged to pay the venue for the attendance numbers we advise them on the Monday prior to the meeting. Please always advise one of the facilitators.

February Meeting: We begin 2023 with Jane Lohse's recollections and stories of her 22 years behind the walls of Lithgow Correctional Centre as a Correctional Officer. Jane will talk about challenges, rewards and everyday experiences which ranged from the bizarre to the dangerous. She started as an "on the ground" junior officer and advanced through to being Officer in Charge of what was known as the Gang Unit, housing some of the most dangerous inmates in the system. She was also a Peer Support Officer and First Aid Trainer, and took advantage of personal development opportunities, and was a Mentor to colleagues. It all became personal and dangerous when an ex-inmate became a threat to her personal and family's safety when he fire-bombed her home. Jane will share her story with us.
