Stacey Northam and Caron Watkins – MVNS Women’s Shed (Women Kind Collective)

  • Taree Racecourse - The Winning Post Function Centre Racecourse Drive Taree, NSW, 2430 Australia (map)

Please Note Venue Change: To be held at The Winning Post Function Centre, Taree Racecourse as Club Taree are not able to accommodate us at the club on this date.

And a reminder: Please note that our cost for this year has increased to $35 per head. This will enable our venues to continue to offer us a quality meal while still catering within a limited budget.

We again reinforce the importance for netters to RSVP by the close off time, and to honour the commitment to pay even when not able to subsequently attend. This applies in the case that you cancel past the RSVP cut off time, and you are not able to find a substitute for yourself. We are obliged to pay the venue for the attendance numbers we advise them on the Monday prior to the meeting. Please always advise one of the facilitators.

April Meeting: The Women Kind Collective (The Women’s Shed) is a community development project through Manning Valley Neighbourhood Services and funded through the 2019 Black Summer Bushfires funding. The project was created in response to local women’s voices being heard and held and identified the need for women in community to have a space to come together safely for healing and recovery through connection and community inclusion.

The Women Kind Collective provides programs, workshops and activities, referral support, outreach service, events showcasing local women’s small businesses and provides opportunities for women and their families to further build skills, share skills and to reconnect and heal after a tumultuous couple of years. The project is aimed to empower local women and increase social community cohesion through offering a broad suite of activities and supports, with measurable outcomes and connection already significantly positive for the women attending.

Stacey, Coordinator of the Women Kind Collective Space, will be speaking to the need, implementation, and impact of the Women Kind Collective project for local women in community, how you can be involved, and what’s happening next for the space.
