Sheila Capperauld - Pickleball “what’s the big dill?”

  • Wingham Services Club 28-38 Bent Street Wingham, NSW, 2429 Australia (map)

Our March Speaker: Sheila Capperauld – Pickleball:

An initial contact with Sheila suggested an introduction of: “I’m Sheila Capperauld and I’m a pickleball addict!”

Pickleball has experienced rapid growth and popularity nationally, and in the Mid Coast Region over recent years. It began locally with the formation of Hallidays Point club. With support of Council, the Wrigley Parks tennis courts in Taree have been rejuvenated to accommodate nine pickleball courts. The club now participates in regional, state, and national tournaments. With the impending NSW championships to be held in April, we will be sure to hear from a very enthusiastic advocate.

Sheila’s presentation will explore all things pickleball. It will explain the origins of pickleball worldwide, how it got its name, the beginnings of pickleball in the area, and the exponential growth the sport is experiencing.  The physical and social benefits will be highlighted. Closer to home, it will highlight the evolution of pickleball in the Manning/Great Lakes area, and our vision for the future. Importantly, it will also explain how you can get involved in this fun and popular sport.
