Amy Kurtz - Principal, John Hunter Hospital School

  • Club Taree 121 Wingham Road Taree, NSW, 2430 Australia (map)

Our August Speaker: Amy Kurtz

Wait. There's a school at John Hunter Hospital?

Amy is the very enthusiastic and innovative Principal at John Hunter Hospital in Newcastle.

She is committed to providing an inclusive and supportive learning environment that empowers her students. Each student is given an enriching education that nurtures their talents, passions and dreams.

Amy collaborates with a dedicated team of educators both inside and outside the hospital walls. She endeavours to foster a strong relationship with families, healthcare providers and the wider community to support the educational needs of the students.

When a child is sick and becomes a regular patient at John Hunter Hospital, the school becomes an integral part of their lives. The school provides not only educational programs but provides crucial emotional and physical support.

Amy, as Principal, has an important role and has been able to make JHHS feel like family, with friendly familiar faces providing invaluable support during tough times for sick children.

Amy will expand on and answer questions about how JHHS provides a supportive and caring environment in the hospital and what support students need when they return to their local school.

Amy has local ties with the Manning Valley as she was born in Taree but left when she was 2 years old. Her Grandparents both came from the Manning, and her mother Margaret is a regular Netter.

We look forward to welcoming Amy at our August meeting for what will be an informative and interesting topic that will educate us to what JHHS means to sick children and their families.
